Master Captain Emily LoCicero was born in Kent, Ohio, her family decided to move to Sanibel Island when she was 4 years old. Luckily, she grew up a true Island Girl and started exploring the area islands and waters at a young age. In 1999, she obtained a 100 Gross Ton Masters license and started her first company, Island Girl Charters. Island Girl Charters began with Captain Emily and her 27 World Cat, after a few years opportunities opened up doors for expansion and the business grew to multiple boats, captains and crew. After years of being an administrator in an office and not on the water, Captain Emily sold Island Girl Charters in 2013 and went back to her roots and started Emmy Girl Charters. Emmy Girl Charters is a small charter company where Captain Emily is doing what she loves showing people the beauty of where she lives.
Captain Emily has been nicknamed the “dolphin whisperer”. On a charter with some city slicker professional photographers working for Martha Stewart’s Living Magazine, Captain Emily came upon a large pod of dolphins, where she was able to get up close and personal and talk to them in her dog voice. One dolphin liked this interaction and looked eye to eye and talked to her. This moment started her love affair with the amazing mammal. To this day the mystery remains: what did the dolphin try to communicate?
Captain Emily also frequently refers to herself as a “Bird Nerd” ; one of her happy places is hanging at Pine Island Sound bird rookeries, where she loves to explore her hobby of bird photography.
With over 24 years experience in the Pine Island Sound area Captain Emily has a plethora of knowledge about the history and wildlife. Come join Master Captain Emily aboard her 27’ World Cat Emmy Girl (the smoothest boat afloat).
